Colgate University seeks an individual to provide religious leadership and logistical support for campus communities during major fall religious observances. The role ensures that seasonal gatherings run smoothly, inclusively, and in alignment with university parameters.
 
Specific duties include:
  • Lead egalitarian religious services designed to encourage communal participation, blending traditional and diverse melodies to serve participants from various backgrounds.
  • Serve as a primary chanter or reader for sacred texts, coordinating any shared reading segments with staff, student leaders, and community members.
  • Provide opportunities for teaching, study, or discussion during designated holiday periods.
  • Partner with student leaders and campus staff to share leadership responsibilities, facilitate student involvement, and support student-led components of the programming.
  • Assist with venue setup, breakdown, materials distribution, and general operational hospitality for community events and seasonal meals.
  • Welcome and direct students, faculty, and university guests to ensure an orderly, inclusive, and hospitable environment.
 
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Open to rabbinic/cantoral students, non-congregational clergy, or other experienced religious service leaders and event coordinators.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, student-centered campus environment.
  • Ability to follow operational and safety protocols independently.
