Summary of Position

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) at Allegheny College is a pivotal member of the Residence Life team, responsible for creating a vibrant, safe, and supportive living environment in the campus residence halls. Reporting to the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the RLC supervises Head Resident Advisors and Resident Advisors, collaborates with campus partners, and helps implement curriculum-driven programs that foster community, personal growth, and academic success. Committed to equity and student engagement, the RLC also contributes to program assessment and continuous improvement. This live-in position participates in the Student Life On Call rotation as a first responder. 

As the Residence Life Coordinator, you will:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Directly supervise and support Head Resident Advisors (HRAs) and Resident Advisors (RAs) through regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and professional development. Foster a positive, collaborative team environment and serve as a mentor and role model.. 
  • Program Development, Implementation, and Assessment: Collaborate on the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Residence Life Curriculum, focusing on community building, cultural awareness, wellness, and personal growth, in partnership with student leaders and campus partners.
  • Student Support: Provide support and mentorship for students regarding housing issues, including roommate conflicts and transition to independent living
  • Community Engagement and Outreach: Cultivate positive relationships across campus, facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and feedback sessions. Promote campus-wide initiatives, events, and student support resources. Participate/observe RA programming in residence hall, connecting with residents.
  • Serve on the Student Life On Call: Rotation as a first responder. The first responder provides support for Public Safety during pressing situations that occur (including those that occur after hours).

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years experience required, 4-7 year experience preferred.

Required Knowledge of

  • Previous experience in residence life, student affairs, or related fields preferred.
  • Commitment to promoting student development, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the residence hall community.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, best practices in residence life, and legal and ethical issues in higher education.

Required Skills in

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to manage crises, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions under pressure.

YOUR COMPENSATION

The expected starting range for this position is $35,568 per year. This is an hourly non-exempt position.
