SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for the leadership and oversight of Student Governing Association (SGA) engagement and governance. This position serves as an integral member of the SGA advising team, and leads student leadership development, co-curricular engagement, and enrollment management functions.
KEY FUNCTIONS
SGA advising and governance support
45%: Serve as a key member of the SGA advising team, collaborating closely with the university’s Vice President for Academic Success & Student Affairs/Dean of Students and the Union’s Director/Student Programs and Involvement. Advise assigned SGA committees, leaders, and programs (e.g., funding committees, branch leadership, elections, and communications). Provide strategic guidance to ensure successful fulfillment of SGA mandates, special initiatives, and leadership development activities in a timely and accurate manner.
Oversee operational objectives with student leadership, advisors, and Union and university departments to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Oversee and support SGA’s administrative, financial, and personnel activities in coordination with Union and university HR, Union business services, university auditing, and other service partners.
Coordinate the administrative support of SGA, to include business operations, records management, correspondence, student travel, and special initiatives.
Departmental operations
25%: Oversee departmental procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with Union, university, and state and federal regulations. Serve as a liaison with financial stakeholders and prepare required reports and recommendations. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, coordinating overall workflow. Provide leadership on risk management and liability for SGA activities. Support initiatives that promote student success, engagement, and community building. Manage SGA’s fiscal operations, including budget development, allocations, disbursements, projections, and policy compliance, and serve as the primary liaison between SGA, funding recipients, and the Union.
Student leadership and engagement initiatives
20%: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing education, guidance, and support on SGA and SPI policies, procedures, and governing documents to students, staff, advisors, campus partners, and other stakeholders.
Operate SPI’s enrollment management activities, to include recruitment fairs tabling, student orientation presentations, and prospective student campus visit sessions. Lead student engagement initiatives, to include Cat Trax, SafeRide, and other collaborative campus events. Oversee departmental marketing, communication, and outreach strategies. Coordinate management of front-desk operations and customer service functions.
Other duties
10%: Prepare reports, recommendations, findings, and other correspondence as required. Execute special projects and assignments as directed. Serve as member of Union’s leadership team as well as internal and external committees, and taskforces. Remain current and competent by developing professional contacts with colleagues; seek out professional development opportunities, etc. Perform other duties as assigned and instructed.

Skills and Abilities
This position is primarily on-site and requires regular, routine, and predictable in-person attendance to effectively perform job duties. Work in a general office environment and event venues, to include outdoor settings. Remain seated/stand 40% of shift. Finger dexterity/movement for typing, picking up small objects and utilizing varying equipment. Hearing for average or normal conversations and to receive information. Sight to view computer, documents, and general office machinery. Verbal and written communication to present, convey and exchange information and ideas accurately and quickly. Move, transport and position equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical conditions.
