Position Type: Full-Time, Live-In

Position Summary: The Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) plays a critical role in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing program. The RHC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a residence hall or group of residence halls, which house 250 to 700 residents. This position involves staff supervision, building management, process administration, and general departmental responsibilities while implementing a residential curriculum that fosters student growth, community building, and engagement.The RHC reports directly to an Associate Director of Residence Life. Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

Hall Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the assigned residence hall(s), including facility management, service desk operations, and occupancy processes.
  • Serve as the point of contact within the residential community for departmental processes, facility issues, and high-level maintenance concerns.
  • Create a welcoming and engaged residential community in line with the departmental residential curriculum, focusing on student growth and engagement.
  • Lead Living Learning Community Initiatives based on building assignment.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the residence hall to support student interactions and foster a sense of community.
  • Develop positive relationships with several campus partners such as the EKU Police Department, Aramark, Center for Student Accessibility, Student Life, etc.
  • Primarily responsible for managing all hall budgets and adhering to purchasing guidelines.

Student Staff Supervision:

  • Select, train, and supervise student staff members, ensuring their effectiveness in carrying out their roles.
  • Co-supervise 20-30 student staff including Graduate Residence Hall Coordinators, Resident Advisors, Community Desk Managers, and Community Receptionists.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process for student staff.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and regular evaluations to support student staff development.
  • Manage performance and conduct evaluations through the departmental performance management process.

Conduct and Crisis Management:

  • Serve in a weekly on-call rotation for a campus population of approximately 4,600 students, responding to crises and policy violations.
  • Manage student conduct issues and the disciplinary process within the residence hall in accordance with university policies.
  • Respond to campus situations and emergencies in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures.

Departmental Involvement:

  • Participate in at least 2 departmental committees and contribute to other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director for Residence Life.
  • Support departmental initiatives and work closely with other staff to ensure alignment with Housing and Residence Life goals
  • Assist with large-scale HRL events, move-in/move-out processes, and student engagement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in student affairs or residence life programming.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Must reside in the assigned residence hall.
  • Be available for on-call responsibilities during weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in a live-in professional role within a university housing program.
  • Familiarity with student conduct policies and residence life best practices.
  • Previous experience in staff supervision or leadership roles.
  • Proficiency with eRezLife, StarRez, WebTMA, Lenel.

Salary & Benefits:

  • $43,866, Semi-monthly
  • Housing is provided in the assigned residence hall.
