Job Description

Are you passionate about helping students live out their faith through service, reflection, and action? The Assistant Director of Faith and Justice (ADFJ) plays a key leadership role within Notre Dame’s Campus Ministry, guiding students to see that faith calls us to confront the world’s most urgent challenges and uphold the dignity of every person.

In this mission-driven role, you’ll inspire students to experience solidarity firsthand and to reflect deeply on those encounters through the lens of Scripture and Catholic social teaching. Your work will bring to life Notre Dame’s mission and the charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross, helping students connect faith with justice in transformative ways.

What You'll Do

Lead Mercy Works:
Oversee Mercy Works, Campus Ministry’s signature service and justice initiative. Develop and sustain relationships with local community partner agencies, connect students with meaningful service opportunities, and ensure that these partnerships remain mutually beneficial and mission-aligned.

Form and Inspire Students:
Create and facilitate formation experiences that integrate Scripture and Catholic social teaching, helping students reflect on their service and deepen their commitment to justice. This includes organizing small and large group gatherings, community formation nights, and leadership development for student leaders.

Coordinate Immersion Experiences:
Coordinate weekend immersion experiences that allow students to engage more deeply with local organizations, expand their understanding of social issues, and discern the call to live faith in action.

Mentorship and Accompaniment:
Provide pastoral presence and individual guidance to students, offering both spiritual formation and practical support. A strong understanding of University resources and policies is essential for effective student advising.

Collaboration and Contribute:
Work closely with Campus Ministry colleagues to advance shared priorities, track engagement, and strengthen the department’s collective impact across campus. The ADFJ also contributes to broader initiatives that promote inclusion, service, and spiritual growth within the University community.

Why This Role Matters

As Assistant Director of Faith and Justice, you will help students discover that faith is not only professed, but lived. Through service, reflection, and accompaniment, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students who bring hope, compassion, and justice to the world.
