Dr. LaFarin Meriwether is an educator, scholar, mother, sister, friend and lover of this thing called life. She currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Residence Life at Davidson College. LaFarin received her bachelor’s degrees from the University of Kentucky in Agricultural Economics and Public Service and Leadership; her M.B.A. from the University of Cincinnati; and her doctorate in Higher Education from Florida State University.
LaFarin is an active member within her professional organizations; currently serving as the Co-Director for ACPA’s Institute on the Curricular Approach, and a trustee for the Association of College and University Housing Officers -International (ACUHO-I) Foundation board as the Vice-Chair for Individual Outreach & Giving. She is a co-host of the Meeting After the Meeting Podcast. LaFarin has contributed scholarship and knowledge to her profession by presenting on the areas of recruitment and retention of staff, the curricular approach, self-actualization, and organizational leadership and development. LaFarin is the founder of the Phoenix Advantage Consulting Group. She is a firm believer that we are all purposed to do something the world needs.

Laura McCulley serves as the Assistant Director for Student Engagement at the University of Maryland in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union. In this role, she provides leadership and strategic oversight for Veteran Student Life, Graduate Student Life, Transfer and Off-Campus Student Life, and the Graduate Legal Aid Office.
Laura began her career in Residence Life as a Resident Assistant while earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She went on to obtain a Master of Education in College Student Affairs Leadership from Grand Valley State University, where she also served as an Assistant Hall Director. Laura later spent five years as a Resident Director at the University of Illinois before joining the University of Maryland as a Community Director. During her tenure, she earned an additional Master’s degree in Education Policy and Organizational Leadership.
Throughout her career, mentorship has remained a central focus. Laura is deeply committed to supporting student success and fostering a sense of belonging across diverse student populations. Outside of work, she enjoys bowling, cooking, and spending time in community with others.

In 2002 Chris began building the first 100% online career center in the US, pioneering online technology and social media to deliver career development advising and instruction. Since then he's held roles at three Philadelphia universities providing leadership in co-operative education, admissions for graduate STEM programs, and now leading Jefferson University's Center City based Center for Career Success serving students and alumni for all Jefferson health profession programs through faculty partnerships and career development content embedded in curricula.
Since that start in 2002 he's presented at state and regional ACEs as well as NACE on online career services and emerging technology, including creating a keynote panel at MWACE 2007 and leading a NACE President's Tech Summit at the 2009 annual conference. More recently he’s co-authored a contribution to the NACE Case Study Guide on navigating mergers, authored another case study on creating online career centers, created and delivered numerous, blogs, podcasts, and webinars on AI and Work for NACE and EACE. In 2022 he presented two iterations of Why Work at NACE22 and EACE22 as explorations of how we think and talk about work, and what that means for our conversations around automation, AI, and the future of work. Chris continues to stare at the horizon.
